The Sacred Death Centre is a Community Association dedicated to supporting individuals and families through the End-of-Life Journey and Grief.

Welcome to The Sacred Death Centre – Glastonbury

We believe in providing compassionate, holistic care as individuals and families navigate the end-of-life journey. Our mission is to honour this sacred transition with dignity, grace and gentle support. We see ourselves as companions to the dying and place them at the centre of everything we do.

We are a community association that has received a grant from the National Lottery Community fund to offer our projects over 2024-2025. We aim to offer as much as we can in the community for free or at affordable rates so as many people as possible have access to our services.

Our Services

Homeopathy for End-of-Life Care

Homeopathy is a gentle, natural system of healing that supports physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. During the end-of-life process, homeopathy can:

  • Ease pain, discomfort, and anxiety.
  • Help with sleep issues and emotional distress.
  • Provide comfort for common symptoms such as nausea or fatigue.
  • Support both the dying individual and their family members.

Our trained homeopaths specialise in remedies that are tailored to each person’s unique needs, ensuring care that is as personalised as it is effective.

Our homeopathy clinic is running once a month, please see our events page to check the
dates and information on how to book.

Testimonials

“What the Grief Recovery Method 8 week course offers is amazing- and that is not an easy thing to say about conversations on loss, grief or bereavement.

The Leaders, Lucy and Melissa, are wonderful, kind, real, supportive and hold a uniquely safe space for all. It’s because of them – the ‘Lightness’ achieved by all who took part in my cohort, was palpable.

We all started in our own ‘self-imposed cages’ from the internal thoughts and effects of pain and trauma, and finished – returned to a more expanded and loving sense of self.

GRM is worth its weight in gold! Thank you.”

“I recently attended the 8 week Grief Recovery course with Lucy and Melissa.   This has been an incredible experience with an extremely safe space held by the course facilitators.

Following the sudden death of my son in 2020 I had felt completely unable to move through my grief and what has been enabled by the course has been transformative in that I can now ‘normalise’ speaking about what happened and what I have experienced when previously it had felt completely taboo.

I will never get over the devastating loss of my son but I am more comfortable being with my feelings than I thought I ever would be.   Since completing the course I’ve experienced emotional and physical changes that are welcome and the support is ongoing from my fellow attendees and the facilitators.

I can’t recommend the Grief Recovery Course highly enough.  Thank you.”

“Dear Lucy and Melissa,

In much appreciation for your compassionate and gentle way in which you both conducted the Grief Recovery group which I attended in February. I loved the way it was structured and bounded, and also allowed time for personal queries to be addressed in the group.

As a retired counsellor and having done various grief groups and Death Cafes I had a lot of benefit going through the various processes and feel I achieved completion on the person I worked on. I will continue to use the process on other losses and deaths.

Thank you for being so open and vulnerable in demonstrating your own time lines and experiences. It felt very real and meaningful as was everyone else who participated in my smaller group. We formed a beautiful bond and felt very safe with each other.

I will continue to recommend this method and you two as brilliant facilitators to share this very important work.  Thank you so much for all the organisational skills you both have and the tea, biscuits, soups and yummy healthy cakes!!

The accompanying workshop were also so valuable and I loved all the speakers who shared from their own perspectives. The circles, friendships made and knowing you were both there if any extra support was needed in between sessions.

I also appreciate greatly that is was funded and made accessible to those who do not have the money, which is myself and others.  I do hope it will continue to be funded as it such a valuable asset in our community.

Upon reflection and as time has passed since we finished the course I do feel as if a burden has been lifted and I am more open to giving and receiving love and have in fact received some very precious inner gifts this past week. I know this will also be of great benefit on my continuing journey.

Happy to share this anonymously. Much love, light, gratitude and many blessings xxxx”

Holding Hands

Will You Hold My Hand?

Will you hold my hand for a little while?
I don’t need you to save me
No need for you to fix anything
No need for you to hold my pain
But will you simply hold my hand?

I do not need your words
Your thoughts
Nor your shoulders to carry me
But will you sit here for a while with me?

Whilst my tears stream
Whilst my heart shatters
Whilst my mind plays tricks on me
Will you with your presence let me know that I am not alone
whilst I wander into my inner unknown?

For my darkness is mine to face
My pain mine to feel
And my wounds are mine to heal
But will you sit with me here
while I courageously show up for it all my dear?

For I am bright because of my darkness
Beautiful because of my brokeness
And strong due to my tender heart
But will you take my hand lovingly
when I sometimes journey into the dark?

I don’t ask you to take my darkness away
I don’t expect you to brighten my day
And I dont believe you can mend my pain
But I would surely love it if you could sit for a while and hold my hand
Until I find a way out of my shadowland
So will you hold my hand until I return again?
